Working from PhotographsAs a pet portrait artist I work from photographs to create a portrait of your favorite pet. Although I can usually create a portrait from almost any photograph, there are a few things you need to consider before selecting and sending me a photo or group of photos for your portrait. |

- I create "Photo-real art". When selecting a photo, select one that will reflect as much detail as possible or send additional photographs that will help to identify the traits and characteristics of your pet.
- Most pet owners have a photo of their pet in their favorite pose or special expression. Even if that "favorite photo" is not clear or the colors are not correct, I can work with that pose and pick up detail from other photos. The more pictures I have to work with, the more successful I will be at creating a portrait you will be happy with.
- Photographs do not always reflect the true colors of your pet and are influenced by a variety of factors including natural light, flash, camera type, camera settings, etc. If you request a portrait in color I will work with you to ensure the colors are accurate.
- Many times, due to sunlight, flash photography or the animals age, the eyes will appear as white circles in the photography. I can correct the eyes to reflect the shape and color not shown. During the order/consultation process I will review this with you and make necessary corrections based on other photographs and/or your input.
- If you request a portrait of more than 1 pet or a pet and pet owner, they do not have to be all in the same photograph. I will create the portrait from several photos and aubmit a simple layout/line drawing for your approval.
- It is acceptable to email a photograph especially if we are working with a tight time frame. However, some photos lose alot of detail in the email process and it still may be necessary to mail photos via regular or express mail.
- I know how important pet photos are to their owners, especially "that favorite pose". I always return the owner/client all photographs received.
Estimates are free. When in doubt please call or email me and we can discuss your request. I will also accept the photos, review your request, provide you with an estimate and any additional photos/information I might need. Your photos will be returned to you after I complete your portrait or immediately if you elect not to place an order.
